Meeting the Highest Bushfire Safety Standards

Given the area’s classification as a Flame Zone, the highest bushfire rating, every material and design element had to comply with BAL FZ (Bushfire Attack Level Flame Zone) standards. This meant rigorous planning and approval processes, including consultations with a bushfire expert and the local council. Safety and compliance were our top priorities, ensuring that the structure could withstand the harshest conditions.

The Construction Process

Excavation and Foundations: The project began with meticulous excavation work, followed by pouring concrete piers for the decking and a solid concrete slab for the swim spa. These robust foundations are crucial for stability and durability.

Bushfire-Resistant Materials: To meet the stringent bushfire requirements, we used galvanized steel posts and joists. These materials are not only incredibly strong but also resistant to high temperatures. For the decking, we selected fibre cement boards, known for their excellent fire-resistant properties.

Pergola Design: The pergola was designed with a steel frame, a metal roof, and fibre cement linings. This combination ensures that the structure is both aesthetically pleasing and capable of withstanding extreme heat.
